4/19/1969 purdue
jimmie, you were'nt only hipster @ purdue. carload of us drove up from bloomington & hooked up with friends @ tarkington hall. these guys had room covered in foil. found some ice9 & off like a rocket! first time all the way on 'bus'. honestly, can't recall power outage. did however park myself infront of that junior high stage for rest of show, right in front of Jerry's spot. little stage. @ show band was packing own gear. walked over to J.G., introduced self. he was kind enough to shake my hand. soundboard is best one of this show i've heard.

Flash
I was at this show. The only black hippie at Purdue at that time. The electric power went out in the middle of the first song "Hard to Handle" causing about a forty minute delay. i can still hear Pigpin swearing. They return and took it from tha top. My friend David "O" from Lafayette did the light show. The music was good then and it's good now. A night I will never forget.A month later, I moved to San Fran.
PEACE

More Classic '69
This is an excellent show, streaming this show right now and it is very good. Good sound quality for the age of the recording, a little hiss but not any thing to deter you from listening. Excellent Hard to Handle and King Bee. I can't get enough Pigpen blues. The Morning Dew and Cryptical> Other One> Cryptical sandwich is smoking stuff.
Overall, I really enjoyed listening. I think this show has gotten lost in a year with so many other grate shows, not as well known as the 2/27 - 3/2 Fillmore shows or 11/8 DP 16 show, but still very worth your time. Boogie Down!!!

37 years old today
This show is 37 years old today and so am I. My "date of birth" show will always have a respected place in my collection, regardless of what people may or may not think about this set. This recording is excellent, and there are many highlights. As stated below, Cryptical->TOO->Cryptical->Sitting On Top Of the World is phenominal, as is HTH, Dew, and the Lovelight is epic. Off night? No way...

Great '69 show!!!
I was anxious to hear this show (because I am a Boilermaker!) but had low expectations of it. I'd heard it wasn't very good... but not only is it respectable, the cryptical>other one> cryptical SOTTW is suprisingly tight and is no way sluggish. King Bee is Pig at his best! This may be one of the better Doin' that Rag Ive heard!! Lovelight typically smokes for almost a half hour.

An off night
Generally sluggish, Phil's flat, mediocre sound. Get the o1, SOTOTW (kicks!) and the Lovelight & you're done. This Cosmic Charlie may be the single worst performance of '69.
